Former Glenville Police Sgt. Michael Kendall will be facing trail this Wednesday in
Glenville for nine felony counts he received during a high speed chase last
March.
Kendall chased 20-year-old Kevin Tingler from Glenville into another county,
although he lost contact with the suspect during the latter part of the chase. The
officer suspected Tingler was drinking.
Kendall said he reached speeds of 100 miles per hour or more during the
incident.
Kendall has since been fired by the Town of Glenville.
Circuit Judge Jack Alsop has apparently denied Kendall's request for a change of
venue, nor did the judge drop three felony kidnapping charges against the officer.
Gilmer County Prosecutor Gerald Hough argued that Kendall took away three
individuals' freedom of movement, when he entered the defendants house and held
the subjects at gunpoint. The officer was in search of 20-year-old Kevin Tingler,
who was not at home.
Kendall claimed Tingler attempted to run him down, causing the officer to fire a
shot through Tingler's truck, mid-way in the chase.
Forensics regarding the shooting incident may become key to the case.
The sentencing of Jamie Jarvis of Chloe for her part in the murder of a Clendenin
man last January, has been postponed to October 21.
Jarvis was originally charged with the same offenses as her boyfriend Roger
Jones, who has been found guilty of two Roane County murders.
She has since entered in a plea arrangement over the charges.
Grantsville resident John Richards is scheduled for a hearing before a Grantsville
magistrate on October 16, related to stolen property.
