Emergency services continued a busy streak today which started Friday -
accidents, fires and other incidents.
An auto driven by Cicely Ullum of Grantsville spun out of control on rain-slick Hog
Knob Hill this morning at 8:35 a.m. Ullum's vehicle was traveling east on State
Route 5, where it appeared to have struck rocks along the highway and
rolled-over.
She was taken to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center by Calhoun EMS for
evaluation.
Hog Knob Hill has been the scene of numerous accidents from what appears to be
oil seeping from the highway, usually after a slow rain.
State Trooper Jeff Hunt investigated the accident. The Grantsville VFD also
responded.
The Grantsville VFD responded at 9:07 a.m. to a barn fire on the Joe Cain farm at
Big Bend, where hay apparently heated to combustion. Cain said his Quonset
structure was heavily damaged. He said they managed to get his tractor out of the
building.
Firemen remained on the scene until noon, attempting to pull the hay from the
building and put out the slowly burning fire.
A 1994 Dodge Dakota truck went out of control and crashed on Euclid-Nicut Road at 11:45 a.m.
sending two people to Roane General Hospital.
Calhoun EMS dispatched two
ambulances to the scene, about seven miles from State Route 16 at Orma.
Injured were Larry Lane, the driver, in his 60's, and Robert Lane, 51, of the Orma area.
Deputy Sheriff Charlie Richards investigated the accident. The Upper West Fork
VFD also responded.
A truck slipped over the road bank on Sinking Springs at 11:52 a.m. causing
damage to the vehicle. At least one of the occupants was taken to Minnie Hamilton
Health Care Center for evaluation by Calhoun EMS. Reportedly the occupants were
Marge Bevins and Tony Griggs.
Bevins told authorities they were trying to make way for an oncoming vehicle on
the narrow rural road, two miles from State Route 16.
Sheriff Allen Parsons and Deputy Charlie Richards investigated. The Arnoldsburg
VFD also responded for traffic control.
Deputy Sheriff Carl Ballengee investigated a minor accident on Henry's Fork at
12:13 p.m.
State Trooper Jeff Hunt responded to a dispute on Henry's Fork at 12:05 p.m.
where threats were reportedly being made against an individual.
Roane County 911 reported numerous auto accidents today.
