Dessie Jett, 94, of Beech, Calhoun County, West Virginia, died August 26 at Minnie Hamilton
Health Care Center, Grantsville.
Born at Minnora, she was a daughter of the late Cal and Alice Parsons Jarvis. She was a
christian for many years and was a member of the Milo Church, where she served as
Sunday School teacher and Sunday School director. She was famous for her homemade
apple pies and cookies with sprinkles.
Surviving are three sons, Calvin Jett and his wife, Shirley and Blaine Jett and his wife,
Janice all of Doyelstown, Ohio, Bruce Jett and his wife, Janet of Orma, WV; two daughters,
Wanda Bailey and her husband, Delmar and Nola Smith and her husband, Leon all of Orma;
two brothers, Bruce Jarvis of Orient, Ohio and Carl Jarvis of Orma; four half brothers, Curt
Jarvis of Kimbolten, Ohio, Bill Jarvis, Charter Jarvis and Gary Jarvis all of Chloe, WV; two
sisters, Maysel Stalnaker of Chloe and Rilma Chandler of SC; four half sisters, Geneva
Badgett of Five Forks, WV, Nell Deweese of Leatherbark, WV, Bonnie Ellison of Orma and
Madeline Hardway of Chloe; 24 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 4 great great
grandchildren; 12 step great grandchildren, 13 step great great grandchildren; 2 caregivers,
Karen Moore and Maggie Shaffer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Jett; 2 grandchildren; 1 brother and 2
sisters.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 29 at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, WV with Reverends Will
Moore and Jack Stump officiating. Interment was in the Bailey Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the
Bailey Cemetery Fund.
