By Ed Tingler
Russ Ferrell was crowned the new Tater King after some of the spuds he grew this year weighed well over two pounds. A
full sized Ford pickup truck, (clear full), a Chevy pickup and Toyota was required to haul all these taters away.
When asked what the secret was to growing these big taters, Ferrell simply replied, "It is in the new fertilizer we have
developed."
Well, we had to ask about the fertilizer and were surprised at what he told us. Ferrell told us, Jamie Wagoner, (him being
educated and all,) allowed he could come up with a super-duper tater growing plant food. So he set down and went to
work. After much paper work he said, "Now Russie, I think I have it. We will grind up all the coon gizzards we can come
up with, mix in a little hound droppings, add some bird feathers. Then we'll mix in some mountain spring water and spray
the tater patch".
"Well," Russ said, " We seen the results yesterday, over a hundred bushel of taters off that little patch." Russ said he
would like to thank all the good people who came out and helped pick up all those taters. We would never
have made it without them. We had Judy and Carl Brannon and their kids Berlisha and Randy, my family Kate, Russie and
Josh, Barb, Brandon, and Ed Tingler. Forest Tingler and of course Jamie {the educated one) Wagoner.
Tater King
We had to use Forest's tractor to plow out all those taters Russ said. We tried to use a four-wheeler, but it kept getting
high centered on those big taters.
Everyone might want to try our new fertilize next year. Which will be marketed under the name of,
Ferrell Fantastic Fertilize. Anyone wishing to place an order for our super duper plant food should either get ahold of Russ
or Jamie, soon, because we will only be able to make a limited supply.
