Windmill farm in Tucker County

The public will have more time to comment on new regulations for how wind farms
choose sites for their giant wind turbines. The public can make comments through
this Friday.
Some environmental groups are in a quandary over the windmills, on the one hand
environmentally friendly, but on the other, create a powerful sight across mountain
vistas, in addition to killing a large number of birds.
Wind farms produce electric power. They are springing up in the higher mountains
of West Virginia.
The Legislature passed a law this spring requiring the PSC develop site criteria for
all new electric power generating stations, including wind farms.
PSC lawyer, Leslie Anderson, says the comment period has been extended at the
request of Friends of the Allegheny Front, in response to plans for a new wind farm
in Tucker County.
