The sixth annual Firemen's Bluegrass Festival is history. "Everyone seemed to have
a good turnout and a good time," said Sonny Lowers, one of the organizers.
"I think we made about $5,000 again this year," he said, a fundraiser for the Upper
West Fork Volunteer Fire Department.
The weather cooperated for the most part, with a few downpours during the
three-day festival.
The big attraction was traditional bluegrass music, with a dozen or so regional
groups taking the stage. Dancers came from the audience to clog on the concrete
platform. The big event Saturday night was a gigantic fireworks display.
Lowers, speaking for the committee, expressed thanks to the many businesses
and volunteers who helped with the event.
