Ritchie County has a new assistant prosecutor.
Former Calhouner Kevin Postalwait was sworn in by Judge Robert L. Holland, Jr. in
the chambers of the Ritchie courthouse Friday morning.
Postalwait told Judge Holland "I hope to give diligent service to the needs of
Ritchie County."
He began his official duties today.
Postalwait is a a member of the West Virginia Bar, a graduate of WVU College of
Law and Marietta College with a degree in English. He was graduated from Calhoun
County High School in 1994.
He has been employed with Curnette Law Office in Elkins, which is mainly focused
on family law and other litigation, having worked earlier at the Legal Clinic at WVU
with attorney Scott Curnutte.
He was a Public Defender for the 5th Judicial Circuit representing indigent criminal
defendants, and was formerly employed at the WVU Trademark Licensing Service
and was an intern for State Treasurer John Perdue.
Postalwait will be opening a law practice in Grantsville. He said, "I came back to
Calhoun because it's home." "The more times I leave it and the farther away I have
been from it, I keep realizing the meaning of home," he said. He is also an avid
fisherman in his spare time.
Postalwait is the son of Richard Burl Postalwait of Grantsville, a local 911
dispatcher and a member of the Calhoun Democratic Executive Committee. His
brother, Rick "Bubba" Postalwait is a Calhoun magistrate.
