Little Kanawha Area Rural Health Education Partnerships (RHEP) would like to introduce
Bill Kelley a pharmacy student who is currently completing an RHEP rotation. He attends West Virginia University as a
PharmD student. Bill is starting a four week rotation with Dick Jarvis, RPh and Carla Shanesy, RPh of J&B Drug Store
located in Grantsville. He is a fourth year pharmacy student and will graduate in 2004. Bill is the son of William Eugene and
Mary Kelley of Calhoun County. Bill is a graduate of Calhoun County High School and was the salutatorian of his
class.
As part of a RHEP rotation, students like Bill must complete community service activities. Bill plans on completing three
community service activities while he is with J&B Drug Store. He is scheduled to give a presentation on poisons at the
Calhoun Middle/School during the Safe Kids Day on July 23rd. The title for this presentation is "Pretty Poisons". Bill will
talk to the children regarding drugs that look like candy. He will also visit the senior center and talk with the seniors about
any concerns they might have about their prescription drugs. Bill would also like to offer a Blood Pressure Clinic free of
charge to the general public hosted by J&B Drug Store. Interested parties could have their blood pressure checked and
then talk with Bill regarding any concerns they might have.
Bill chose Grantsville not only because it is a small town but it is also his hometown. Completing his rotation in Grantsville
gives him a chance to spend time with his family and friends. This experience also gives him a chance to serve the
community where he grew up. After graduation, Bill plans on starting a family with his wife Amanda and permanently settling
in a location.
