Brooksville Baptist's new parsonage
Dedication service after the labor
A brand new parsonage was dedicated last evening by the Brooksville Baptist
Church. The 1,300 square foot house was built by volunteers - "Builders for Christ,"
from the Burlington, NC area.
The dedication came after a final week of labor, sometimes up to 40 workers
climbing ladders, pounding nails, painting walls, pulling wires and hanging
cabinets.
The parsonage was built off State Route 5, near the Big Bend Cemetery on land
donated by the Cain family.
The North Carolina group actually has 250 members who support the ministry,
according to Bill Donaldson of Burlington, NC, who said "I'm sorta the foreman."
He proclaimed "Whereas God has raised up Builders for Christ, and has put it in their
hearts to join their sister church of Big Bend...in building a parsonage," as the keys
were presented.
It was the 10th parsonage the group has built. The volunteer group supplies most of
the materials for the project.
"We use this house building as an excuse to spread the message of the Lord Jesus
Christ," he said. "We have a wonderful group of people and people are coming to the
Lord all the time."
About 80 volunteers stayed in campers parked behind the church or slept in the
church buildings.
