About 80 members of "Builders for Christ" returned to Big Bend this week to complete work on
a new parsonage for the Brooksville Baptist Church.
The 1,300 square foot house, located across the road from the Big Bend
Cemetery, is being built on land donated by the Cain family.
The North Carolina group actually has 250 members who support the ministry, according to Bill
Donaldson of Burlington NC, who said "I'm sorta the foreman."
Donaldson said this
was the 10th parsonage the group has built, often supplying much of the building
materials from companies in their area.
"We use this house building as an excuse to spread the message of the Lord Jesus
Christ," he said. "We have a wonderful group of people and people are coming to the Lord all the
time."
Many of the workers stayed at the new recreational and activities building behind
the church, and others came in RVs which are parked at the church. Donaldson said, "One of their biggest
treats was food prepared by the
"Brooksville Women."
