Donald R. Burch of Vienna, formerly of Mt. Zion, passed away July 14, 2003, at his residence.
Don faithfully attended the All-Alumni Reunion at Calhoun High School, including the most recent event on July 5. He was well-known for his high school football career, and had many friends in relatives in Calhoun County.
Don struggled with his debilitating Lou Gehrig's disease with great courage.
He was born Sept. 21, 1939, in Calhoun County, a son of the late Bud and Maggie Stump Burch. He retired from Johns Mansville as a supervisor, attended Martown Church of the Nazerine, was a member of VFW and was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Carder Burch; one son, Donald Eugene Burch and his wife, Denise Sands Burch, of Williamstown; one granddaughter, Emily Victoria Burch; three brothers, Bill Burch of Mt. Zion, Jerry Burch of Tifton, Ga., and Richard Burch of Dearborn Heights, Mich.; one sister, Carol Burch Norman of Laffayette, La.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Burch.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna, with Pastor Robert Kniley officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
