WOOD AND JACKSON TAKE WEATHER HIT - Twister Has 150 MPH Winds, Storm Sweeps North Of Calhoun

It has been a severe weather year in West Virginia.

Wood and Jackson counties received most of the damage with storms that swept across the region last Thursday and Friday.

The immediate counties escaped damage, with the storm pattern going slightly north.

Repair crews with American Electric and Allegheny Power companies hope to have all electrical service restored by sometime Sunday.

Governor Bob Wise says a state of emergency exits in Doddridge, Harrison, Jackson, Monongalia, Nicholas, Preston, Ritchie, Wetzel and Wood counties.

The National Weather Service has confirmed an F-2 tornado touched down in the Wood County community of Lubeck, damaging 30 homes. Authorities say the wind reached speeds close to 150 miles per hour as it cut a quarter-mile wide path over five miles.
