A Jeep went out of control on Rt. 16 south of the Brannon Straight Wednesday
evening, injuring the driver. James Williams, about 17, of Big Bend was taken to
Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center about 5 p.m.
Williams was being taken to a Parkersburg hospital at 11 p.m. for fracture
evaluation, according to a family spokesperson.
The vehicle came to rest on the bank of the West Fork "hanging by a thread,"
according to an Arnoldsburg VFD member. A passerby hooked a chain to the Jeep
to keep it from toppling over.
The river was above normal stage.
Williams appeared to be trapped behind the steering wheel in the open-topped Jeep
when Calhoun EMS arrived.
Deputy Ron Bandy of the Calhoun Sheriff's Department investigated the accident.
