County Clerk Richard Kirby led the 4th of July canoe adventure down the Little
Kanawha River. "The river water was the clearest and most beautiful I have ever
seen," said Kirby, who has frequented the place with Boy Scouts and other groups
over the years.

About forty folks joined the Kirby family for the outing, which included efforts at rock
rappelling and a cook-out at the Kirby camp high above the river valley.
