Many people in Calhoun County and the area are community minded, generous and dedicated. The Hur Herald staff would
like to recognize those individuals and groups for all they do. We ask our readers to submit names of individuals or groups,
along with a brief description of why they are Shining Stars.

Thank you, Hur Herald for your coverage of the installation of the new flags in Grantsville.
The real credit for the flags being here rightfully goes to Mrs. Michelle Smith. Michelle had already taken on the task of
collecting funds for the new Christmas lights for Grantsville and I asked her to help find a way to get forty new flags and
poles for the town.
Michelle is very community spirited, being involved in several community oriented groups and activities, and she, despite her
many activities and very full daily schedule, took on this chore with great enthusiasm. The council's involvement in the
project really was little more than being regularly apprised of the intent and the progress, and we asked for their blessings
which they bestowed with great enthusiasm. Along with Michelle, special thanks should to go out to Spencer Wal-Mart
who so generously donated the flags.
We should all appreciate the contributions Michelle Smith, Wal-Mart and some other citizens made in making this beautiful
addition to our town possible. Thanks also to Patrick Starkey for doing such a fine job in placing the flags throughout the
town.
Respectfully, Gary Knight
