Two Calhoun High School students received first place medals at the
S.C.O.R.E.
competition at Marshall University on March 10. Monica Offutt received
recognition in
sociology and Shaina Cain in communications and vocabulary.
The Search Committee on the Recruitment of Excellent Students (SCORE)
is held each
spring at Marshall. This year about 3000 students from West Virginia,
Ohio and Kentucky
participated.
An examination, performance or display of work is offered from every
academic area
provided by Marshall. Students can compete in such areas as poetry,
drama, radio
broadcasting, math, science, dance, piano, physical fitness and
nursing, among many other
areas.
