Authorities have arrested a Roane County man who fled after allegedly shooting his neighbor to death Wednesday.
Twenty-seven-year-old Dreu Ferguson Junior of Spencer was captured yesterday in Indiana. Police had been on the lookout
in several states for the suspect.
A Crawford County, Indiana sheriff's deputy apprehended Ferguson at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
He was reportedly taken into custody without incident and was being held in neighboring Harrison County's jail awaiting extradition back to West Virginia.
Spencer Police Chief Gary Williams has charged Ferguson with the murder of 29-year-old William Freas.
Freas died at about noon yesterday after he was shot in the chest while standing on his porch.
Freas and Ferguson had reportedly argued earlier in the day. Officials said a visitor to Freas' house told them that Ferguson
fired twice, striking Freas once in the chest.
Ferguson had previously been charged with the death of his infant son and had been released from jail on bond.
He and his wife, 21-year-old Jessica Ferguson, 21, were charged with child abuse and murder by a parent through physical
abuse after their five week old son Shea died in June 2002.
