Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center Offers Summer Computer Course

Beginning July 7 and running through July 30, the Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center will be
offering a computer skills course. The course will present information on basic computer
skills, software use, and resume and portfolio creation. Cheryl McCallister, a long-time
business skills instructor at the Center, will be presenting. The class is Monday, Tuesday,
and Wednesday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. The course is being offered in cooperation with the Lights
On! program and the WV Bureau of Unemployment programs to provide computer skills training to
dislocated BF Goodrich employees. The course is free and open to the public. Call the Lights

Lights On To Offer Farrier Class

In its summer program for adults, Lights On! will offer Basics Of A Farrier Business. Pat McCartney of Tanner, WV, will
instruct the class on basic farriery skills and provide information on building a farrier business. Classes will begin on July 12
at 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The five Saturday classes will include basic skills of horse hoof care, horse shoeing, and instruction on starting and building a
farrier business. Students will have about 10 hours classroom instruction and the remainder time will be used for actual
hands on shoeing with guidance.
