Willie Burnside, 99, of Ivydale, West Virginia, died June 5th at Roane General Hospital,
Spencer.
Born in Clay County he was a son of the late Decker and Verna Tanner Burnside. He was a
coal miner and a saw mill operator, a member of the Hallburg Baptist Church at Hallburg. He
was the last member of the Burnside Gospel Quartet and was a well known gospel singer for
65 years.
Surviving are one son, Shirley Burnside of Ivydale, 11 grandchildren, several great and
great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Burnside, one son, Harrison Burnside and
daughter, Opal Rogers.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 8 at 2:30 p.m. at Nebo Baptist Church, Nebo. Rev.
Darrell Mollohan will officiate. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call at
Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, WV from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday. |
