A bond hearing will be held Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. in Calhoun Circuit Court for
Bobby Ray Shamblin. State Police have charged Shamblin with two counts of first
degree murder in the shotgun deaths of Ward Groves and Mary Hicks.
Shamblin is being held in Central Regional Jail.
A hearing in Calhoun Magistrate Court found probable cause in the Shamblin case,
and the State Police is expected to present evidence to a grand jury in
September, seeking an indictment.
Judge David W. Nibert will consider whether or not bond will be set for Shamblin on
Friday, or the amount bond to be set. Some witnesses related to the case are
expected to be called.
