The 41st annual Calhoun Wood Festival returns this week, being mindful of the
hundreds of folks who have helped with the event since 1962, the forty queens that
participated and the thousands of folks who have come and gone.
The festival is a small town event, but that is its attraction. The Wood Festival is
much like a fair, where people come, relax, talk and participate in the events.
Also this weekend is the Appalachian Bike Classic being held at Calhoun County
County Park. The event draws mountain bike racers from all over the country, and is
a great event for spectators. The Pond Jump is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday and the
great bike race is afternoon on Sunday.
County and regional residents are invited to attend and enjoy the festivities, joining
those who return to the county from out-of-state to visit.
