The new Route 5 bridge across the Little Kanawha River at Elizabeth was dedicated yesterday during a special ceremony.
The Veteran's Memorial Bridge was named in honor of the World War II veterans, according to Master of
Ceremonies Senator Donna Boley.
Also speaking at the event was Secretary of State Joe Manchin.
The Pledge of Allegiance
was led by Perry Daugherty. Representing the Highway Department Cliff Essig and Alvin Engelke.
Senator Donna Boley made the presentation of the signs. Music was played by the Wirt County High School Band under the
direction of Mr. Kevin Sears, and a prayer was said by Pastor Mark McCoy.
