By Bob Weaver

A drop in West Virginia's unemployment rate in April showed up at the county level as more than half of the state's 55 counties recorded lower jobless rates.

Unemployment may no longer be a problem in West Virginia, if you go by the official stats.

Jobless figures improve, however, when unemployment benefits run out and the jobless person is no longer counted.

Calhoun County posted the highest, 19.7 percent.

Other counties not far behind Calhoun, with double-digit numbers, Wirt, Grant, Roane, McDowell, Mason, Mingo, Pocahontas, Braxton, Clay, Jackson and Ritchie.

West Virginia's statewide unemployment rate for April was 6.1%

According to those figures, there is not much of a problem with unemployment in West Virginia.

Things are looking up!
