John Delbert Smith, 80, of Alliance, Ohio, formerly of Akron, Ohio,
died Sunday, May 18, 2003 in the Akron City Hospital, Akron.
He was born March 26, 1923, at Newton, Roane County, a son of the
late James and Bertha Keen Smith. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by his wife, Mary Rose Carper Smith on the 26th of
December 2000; one sister and ten brothers.
Mr. Smith was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired employee
of the Goodyear Aerospace Plant in Akron.
Survivors include three sons, Johnny Lee, Ronnie Keith and Roger
Neal Smith all of Akron; three daughters, Brenda Kay Davoli of
Shinnston, Patricia Ann Crihfield of Akron and Deborah Lynn Webb of
Alvarado, Texas; one brother, Homer Smith of Ransonville, N.Y.; 17
grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday,
May 21 from 5-8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, May 22 at 11 a.m. in
the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, W.Va. with the Rev. J. Herbert
Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Amma Cemetery, Amma, W.Va.
