A joint Calhoun-Wirt County economic development venture may be
launched with a
meeting scheduled in Grantsville on March 26 at 7 p.m. The project was
discussed at
the Calhoun Commission meeting Monday evening. The Little Kanawha Area
Development Corporation will elect officers from eight members of the
new Board of
Directors from the two counties.
Marlo Scruggs with the West Virginia Development Office advised the
two
commissioners, twice the economic development money will be made
available if the
two counties go together. The first meeting in Grantsville will
discuss how the Little
Kanawha Area Development Corporation can apply to the Certified
Development
Community Program and the Local Economic Development Community
Program.
The Calhoun Commission recently appointed four members to represent
Calhoun,
Danny Law, a local real estate broker; Dan McDonald, local leader with
the Calhoun
Economic Development Authority; Jim Morford, President of the Calhoun
Development
Corporation and DonniePitts, administrator with the local school
system.
