An injured Department of Highways worker in Wirt County was denied treatment at the new Coplin Clinic in Elizabeth, according to a DOH supervisor.
Alvin Engelke, DOH supervisor in Wirt County, has lodged a complaint against the primary care facility, including letters he is sending to area newspapers.
Engelke says the taxpayer-supported facility should not have denied treatment to the worker, who he says was in severe pain, "because he was not a client of the clinic and worker's comp cases who were not prior clients could not be treated."
The injured worker was taken to the emergency room at Camden-Clark.
Engelke says the clinic later called to say a mistake had been made.
A Letter to the Editor under "We Get Letters" outlines the details of the complaint.
