Reta Pearl Hathaway Van Horn, 90, of Grantsville, West Virginia, died Tuesday, May 13, 2003
at Delmar Gardens on the Green, Chesterfield, MO.
A lifelong resident of Calhoun County, she was born on Pine Creek, November 13, 1912 a
daughter of the late Curtis and Hattie Hathaway. In the 1950's the family owned a restaurant
and raised broilers on their farm.
She worked at Rubber Fabricators as a supervisor until retirement. She belonged to the
Rebekah Lodge, Eastern Star and was a Belle of the Calhoun Homemakers Club, of which
she was a 50 year member. She was a member of Prosperity Baptist Church.
Surviving are her son, Earl Thomas Van Horn and his wife, Jane of Ballwin, MO;
daughter-in-law, Lorraine Van Horn of Spencer, WV; two half-brothers, Charles and Darrell
Hathaway and one half-sister, Dixie greg; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leavy Oressie Van Horn and a son, Donald Oral
Van Horn.
Funeral services will be held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville on Monday, May 19, 2003 at
2 p.m. Rev. Ken Heiney will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be
held Sunday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made
to Prosperity Baptist Church or the charity of your choice. |
