| The Calhoun County High School Chapters of Mu Alpha Theta and National Honor Society held joint induction
ceremonies.
Pamela Bartlett, sponsor of Mu Alpha Theta, the national math honorary, welcomed guests and inductees. Taking part in the
program were President Jamie McKown, Vice-President Leah Harold, Secretary Jessica Gherke, Treasurer Laura Hall and
Reporter Melissa Hartshorn.
Principal Michael Offutt accepted the candidates for membership following a candlelighting ceremony.
The new inductees are (Senior) Kara J. Haymaker; (Juniors) Ryan A. Bremar, Victoria L. Lamont, Mellisa D. Richards,
Debby L. White, Amber M. Williams and James H. Williams; (Sophomores) Craig A. Arthur and Eli T. Walker.
In addition to the officers, current Senior members are James Bailey, Matthew Bonar, Ashley DeWeese, Brandon Fox,
Jake Krack, Sarah Lynch, Heather Weaver, Patrick Wildfire and DanaYatauro. Current Junior members are Holly Burch,
Marcus Davis, Amber Goodrich, Danielle Goodrich, Tiffany Hall, Zach Houchin, Chelsie Hupp, Kelley Sampson and
Barbara Shock.
Mu Alpha Theta candle lighting ceremony
The National Honor Society induction followed with an introduction by sponsor, Amy Fitzwater. The officers spoke on the
topics of scholarship, leadership, service and character, lighting candles representing each virtue.
Officers are Laura Pfeffer, President; Leah Harold, Vice-President; Vicki Lamont, Secretary; Chelsie Hupp, Treasurer; and
Matthew Bonar, Reporter.
New members were escorted to the stage by current members and were formally accepted into the organization. New
inductees are: (Seniors) Deva Murphy, Jennifer Thomas and Tia Satterfield; (Juniors) Kelly Badgett, Danielle Goodrich,
Holly Moss, Melissa Oshoway, Mellisa Richards and Kelley Sampson; (Sophomores) Craig Arthur, Ashli Cottrell, Jason
Poling, Andrew Prusack, Heather Richards and Eli Walker.
In addition to the officers, current Senior members are James Bailey, Jared Brewer, Ashley DeWeese, Brandon Fox,
Jessica Gherke, Kara Haymaker, Jake Krack, Sarah Lynch, Joseph Park, Heather Weaver, Patrick Wildfire, and Dana
Yatauro. Current Junior members are Ryan Bremar, Amber Goodrich, Tiffany Hall, Melissa Hartshorn, Zach Houchin,
Samantha Parsons, Katie Perkins, Steven Rogers, Barbara Shock and Debby White.
Following the induction ceremonies, an informal reception was held in the Commons.
