GUSTING WINDS TO 57 MPH - Flood Advisories From National Weather Service

Wind Advisory through his afternoon in Calhoun and region. There have been local power outages in Calhoun because of falling trees, but service has been restored by the power company to most of the areas.

A strong cold front will sweep through the region this afternoon. Strong southwesterly winds out ahead of the front... and strong westerly winds behind the front will develop during the late morning and afternoon hours today. Winds are forecast to diminish slightly after sunset.

Stronger winds this afternoon... along with plenty of soft soil from the recent rain... will increase the potential for trees to be blown down.

A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast to be 31 to 39 mph or gusts will range between 46 and 57 mph. Winds of these magnitudes may cause minor property damage without extra precautions. Motorists in high profile vehicles should use caution until the winds subside.

Looking ahead: Monday, windy...cool and less humid with considerable clouds...and a chance of showers. Highs 58 to 63. West winds 20 to 30 mph with higher gusts. Chance of rain 30 percent.

Monday night mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers. Lows in the mid 40s. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tuesday partly cloudy with a slight chance of showers. Highs 60 to 65. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tuesday night partly cloudy. Lows in the mid 40s. Wednesday mostly clear. Highs in the mid 60s.

NSW Flood Watch / Flood Statement expires at 7 pm Sunday locally.

Additional rainfall Sunday evening will not be significant enough to cause any serious problems across the region, acording to the NWS.

At 2 PM Sunday at Glenville, the stage was 24.7 feet and the trend is falling. The river crested at 26.92 feet at 6 am Sunday morning. Flood stage at Glenville is 23.0 feet.

The river will continue to fall below flood stage tonight at Grantsville. At 2 PM Sunday the stage is 37.5 feet and is falling. Flood stage at Grantsville is 36.0 feet.

At 2 PM the stage at Elizabeth was 33.9 feet and the trend is rising. Flood stage at Elizabeth is 36.0 feet. The river will continue a slow rise the rest of the early afternoon. Then will crest around 35 feet late this afternoon and then start a slow fall during the evening hours.
