Ida Mae Nicholas, 96, of Grantsville, West Virginia, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
She was born at Nobe, W.Va., a daughter of the late Albert Ross and Ida Mae Church Whipkey. She was a resident of
Grantsville for 76 years and was a loving wife of 70 years to the late Ralph L. (Swifty) Nicholas and was a loving mother and
grandmother.
She was preceded in death in addition to her husband and parents, by one son, Carroll, three grandchildren, one son-in-law,
four sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by four sons, Cleston Nicholas and wife, Helen, of Grantsville, Ralph Nicholas of Grantsville, Charles
Nicholas and wife, Nina, of Harrisville, and Phillip Nicholas and wife, Sharon, of Parkersburg; four daughters, Colleen
Burdette and her husband, Bob, of Vienna, Phyllis Belt and her husband, Raymond of Tucson, Ariz., Sandra Richter and her
husband, Chuck, of Freeport and Grantsville and Alta Richards and her husband, Hobert, of Big Springs, W.Va.; 24
grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2003 at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Robert Nicholas
officiating. Interment will be in the Nobe Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
