Ronald Nichols, the Executive Director of RESA-V addresses last night's board
meeting
The Calhoun County Board of Education considered six expulsions last night during
a lengthy meeting. The board reportedly issued several levels of consequences.
Five of the expulsion hearings were linked to illegal drug activity. Most of the
hearings were connected to a recent incident over a student bringing marijuana
laced brownies to school and selling them to other students.
One of those five students was charged with having drug paraphernalia.
One other expulsion on the agenda was related to insubordination.
A special education student who was experiencing problems received
consequences outlined by state school policy.
Two of the students were reportedly high school seniors, who most likely will have
some consequences affecting their graduation.
Other students are reportedly facing expulsion hearings at a future meeting.
Details of last night's meeting will follow.
