A summary from the minutes.
The Calhoun County Board of Education met at the Office of the Superintendent on Tuesday, April l 15, 2003, with Ralph Cunningham, Richard Fitzwater, Carlene Frederick, Donald Harris and Burl Simers present, in addition to
Ronald Blankenship, Secretary.
DELEGATIONS:
David Corson requested the Board enter into executive session for discussion of a student matter. Mr. Cunningham moved and Mr. Simers seconded that the Board enter into executive session, but no action was taken on the matter.
REPORTS:
Mrs. Frederick reported on the March 26, 2003 RESA meeting;
Mr. Cunningham reported on the March 27, 2003 CGCC Administrative Council meeting;
Mr. Blankenship reported on the West Virginia Report Cards.
The Herald will present a summary of the Report Card for Calhoun County Schools.
OLD BUSINESS:
Policies adopted unamiously by the Board: Return to Work Program Policy, Lateral Transfer Policy and Early Entrance Policy.
NEW BUSINESS:
The Board held an open expulsion hearing for Student 2002-03/05.
After an open hearing, the Board enter into executive session at for deliberation. A motion unanimously carried for explusion of a sixth grade student with a record of absenteeism and behaviorial problems.
The student was expelled for one calendar year, requiring the parent to cooperate with local mental health agencies concerning placement in a residential treatment facility.
