WARNING NOW: WV LEADING NATIONS DROUGHT, CALHOUN HIT HARDEST IN STATE - High Forest Fire Risk Coming

August 2024

West Virginia is currently leading the nation with drought, and Calhoun and a few regional counties are leading the state with the lack of rainfall.

The last drought in the region was in 1999.

Worse yet, no rain and temperatures in the 90s. A foreboding for an early fall leaf fall followed by a super high risk of forest fires.

A warning to residents against outside burning NOW, with few volunteer firemen able to face an onslaught.

Most rural streams are not flowing, the West Fork has a tiny trickle.
