Over the years I have photographed lots of outhouses, mostly in Calhoun, including a two-story outhouse on Rowels Run.
This week was a first, an under construction outhouse with a modern commode, flushing water, connected to a septic tank, actually a temporary construction while the house's bathroom is being renovated.
Jason Firestine and his wife, who purchased the historic Roach cabin along the lower West Fork and continue with its restoration, have managed to stick to the classic outhouse look.
Firestine's friend gave the unfinished outhouse a chilly trial run. |
