SHOOTIN - According to the Fayette County Sheriffâs Department, a Falls View man is facing felony charges after an altercation involving a firearm that occurred on the evening of October 21.
Deputies responded to a scene where a man had shot at another man. The victim was uninjured, and he was able to identify the shooter. Deputies were able to locate the shooter shortly after the altercation.
56-year-old Joseph E. Given, of Falls View, was charged with wanton endangerment and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. He was transported to Southern Regional Jail and is awaiting court proceedings.
CHARLESTON GUNFIRE - Charleston police are investigating after reports of shots fired early Friday morning on the West Side.
The incident apparently happened about 3 a.m. at the corner of Russell and Main streets.
Lt. Tony Hazelett with the Charleston Police Department said witnesses reported hearing two people arguing and then shots were fired.
People were seen running from the scene, and casings were found there, Hazelett said.
No victim was located after police searched the area and checked with local hospitals.
JAIL MURDERS - State police are investigating two deaths that occurred this week at the North Central Regional Jail in Doddridge County.
According to troopers, inmate Anthony Richard Jones, 35, of Clarksburg, was injured and died during two incidents that involved multiple inmates. The death is being investigated as a murder.
Thereâs also a malicious wounding investigation underway after a second inmate identified as William Adams III, 50, of Ritchie County, was seriously injured in the same incident. Heâs currently hospitalized.
Troopers also said there was a second inmate who died in a separate incident at the jail Tuesday. It appears the death was self-inflicted.
