FRIDAY WV COVID-19 REPORT - Calhoun Cases Spiking At 47

West Virginia’s mounting deaths from coronavirus-related causes continued Friday as health officials reported another 25 deaths.

Calhoun cases have spiked this week to 47.

The state Department of Health and Human Resources said the pandemic death total is now at 4,263.

DHHR officials confirmed the deaths of a 60-year-old man from Braxton County, a 66-year-old man from Ritchie County and a 56-year-old woman from Clay County.

Active cases climbed 112 and are at 8,746. The DHHR reported 1,004 new virus cases since the last update.

Hospitalizations are at 691, with 205 in intensive care and 122 on a ventilator.

The state’s cumulative positive test rate remained at 6.08%, while the daily positive test rate was at 7.37%, up from 6.58%.
