Eugene W. "Gene" Collins, 81 of Glenville WV, (Kanawha Drive Community) departed this earthly life in the morning hours of Friday, October 15, 2021 at his residence with his loving wife Margaret by his side.
He was born May 15, 1940 in Gilmer County, son of the late Ola and Opal Sponaugle Collins.
Gene is a graduate of Normantown High School, class of 1958. He worked as a foreman for Kinney Shoe Company in Glenville and also worked at Flying W Plastics as a quality control manager. In his spare time, Gene enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing, spending time with family and friends, having breakfast with his friends at McDonalds, and he loved his grandchildren with all his heart.
Gene is a Christian by faith and enjoyed attending services at the Glenville First Baptist Church.
On March 19, 1961 Gene was united in marriage to Margaret Bucher Collins who survives at their Kanawha Drive home.
Surviving are 2 children, Wes Collins and wife Amy of Parkersburg WV, and Tammey Webb and husband Rick of Big Springs WV; 4 grandchildren, Evan Collins, Lindsey Boldery, Laura Webb, and Akeara Webb; and 1 sister, Mary Pritt of Canton OH.
Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with his parents, Gene is preceded in death by 4 siblings, Evelyn Hardman, Harley Collins, Donald Collins, and Ruth Southall.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville WV at 12-noon, Monday, October 18, 2021 with Rev. Ronzel Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Lewis County Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Weston WV. Friends will be received from 10:00-12:00 Monday morning at the mortuary in Glenville.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the FBC Cancer Fund, Attn: Susie Sheets, 15 Krystele Drive, Glenville WV 26351.
