MONDAY WV COVID-19 REPORT - 846 NEW CASES, 47 DEATHS

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed 846 new COVID-19 cases and 47 additional deaths in its report on Oct. 4.

The DHHR confirmed 1,645 new COVID-19 cases and 52 additional deaths in its report on Friday.

The DHHR reports there have been 245,544 (+3,440) total cases and 3,769 (+47) total deaths. According to the DHHR dashboard, there are currently 12,284 (-1,730) active cases.

Gov. Justice acknowledged that death is striking all age groups, 69 school outbreaks in 28 counties with 836 confirmed cases among students. He said there are 78 outbreaks at long-term care facilities.

West Virginia at 32.2% is a state with the highest percentage of adults who said their kids, aged 12 to 17, are unlikely to get a COVID vaccine. Nationally, that number is a little less than 15%.

WV leads the nation as the state with the least vaccinated.

DHHR has confirmed the deaths of a 21-year old male from Braxton County and a 76-year old female from Roane County.
