The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed 1,805 new COVID-19 cases and 35 additional deaths in its report on Sept. 15.
Calhoun has 34 new cases since last Friday, with the reported death of a 73-year-old Calhoun woman and the death of a 58-year-old Wirt woman.
First and second person reports say that a number of Calhoun citizens have barely escaped death, with a number still in ICUs and on a ventilator. Some of the survivors have been left with debilitating health problems.
Last Friday, Calhoun hit a record high with 37 new cases reported.
With Calhoun Schools reopening to in-person Thursday, the largest number of new cases are among child and the 30-50 age group.
West Virginia is leading the nation with rapid spread and the most citizens not vaccinated.
The DHHR confirmed 1,473 new COVID-19 cases and 35 additional deaths in its report on Tuesday.
The DHHR reports there have been 3,624,248 (+16,606) total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 214,984 (+1,805) total cases and 3,296 (+35) total deaths.
According to the DHHR dashboard, there are currently 27,674 active cases.
