West Virginia health officials reported two new COVID-19 deaths and 1,482 (two days) new positive cases since Fridayâs data update.
There were 5,949 active cases Monday morning. The stateâs cumulative positive test rate was at 4.96%. The daily positive test rate increased from 1.44% Friday to 9.14% Monday.
Calhoun has four new cases since Friday.
Gov. Jim Justice has left it up to 55 county school systems whether to mask, a non-scientific approach to a world-wide pandemic.
There were 324 patients in hospitals, including 110 in the intensive care unit and 44 using ventilators.
COVID-19 recoveries were at 164,552.
Delta variant cases of the coronavirus were at 322, likely unreported.
The stateâs data shows 0.32% of fully vaccinated people in the state have gotten COVID. The data also shows 0.006% of those who are fully vaccinated have died from the virus.
