On Saturday March 29th a Gospel sing was held to honor George Whipkey for his 97th birthday. The
singers for the event were CCCOA Choir (not pictured) Shari Johnson, Butch Hall, Barb Cain, David Weaver, Dorothy
McCaully, and Patty Mangus.
Each of the singers told how they knew George and what an inspiration he had been in their lives. George said God had been
the greatest influence and inspiration of all.
George has said many times that Calhoun County has some of the most talented singers anywhere and he is very proud to
live in Calhoun County. He also said he is very proud of all the friends he has made over the years.
The event was co-sponsored by Martha Harris, and friend of George and activity director Jan Poling.
