The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported seven new COVID-19 deaths Wednesday and 78 new positive cases.
The death total for the pandemic is now at 2,916. Active COVID cases increased on Wednesday by 16, going from 971 to 987.
The stateâs cumulative positive test percentage decreased to 4.96% Wednesday. The daily positive percentage test rate went from 2.37% Tuesday to 1.65% Wednesday.
There were 83 people hospitalized with the virus as of Tuesday. There were 35 in intensive care and 11 patients on a ventilator. Recoveries were at 160,860.
The DHHR's data shows there are 17 cases of the delta variant of COVID-19 in the state. The DHHR reports there are six cases in Monongalia County, five cases in Berkeley County, and one in each of the following counties: Greenbrier, Hampshire, Harrison, Kanawha, Marion and McDowell.
