THURSDAY WV COVID-19 REPORT - Five New Calhoun Cases Since Last Friday

Three new COVID-19 deaths and 53 new positive coronavirus cases were reported on Thursday by West Virginia health officials.

Five new Calhoun cases since last Friday.

The death total for the pandemic is now at 2,904, according to the state Department of Health and Human Resources.

Active cases were down to 1,026, which is a decrease of 29 from Wednesday's update. The state’s cumulative positive test percentage was below 5%, at 4.99%, and the daily positive percentage test rate was at 1.55% on Thursday.

There were 74 people hospitalized with the virus in the latest update, which is an increase of 12 from Wednesday. There were 24 in intensive care and nine patients on a ventilator. Recoveries were at 160,469.

The DHHR's data shows there are 12 cases of the Delta variant of COVID-19 in the state. The DHHR reports there are five cases in Monongalia County, four cases in Berkeley County, one in Hampshire County, one in Marion County and one in McDowell County.
