West Virginia health officials reported one new COVID-19 death and just 25 new positive cases in the latest update on Tuesday.
Calhoun has two new cases since last Friday.
Gov. Jim Justice and state health officials are expressing concern about the rise of COVID-19 variants this week.
The death total for the pandemic is now at 2,879, according to the state Department of Health and Human Resources. The most recent confirmed death was an 85-year-old man from Nicholas County.
Active cases were down to 1,378, which is a decrease of 89 from the last update. The stateâs cumulative positive test percentage went from 5.03% to 5.02% and the daily positive percentage test rate increased from 1.79% Monday to 1.29% Tuesday.
There were 84 people hospitalized with the virus in the latest update, with 24 in intensive care and 11 on a ventilator. Recoveries were at 159,735.
