The state School Building Authority took advantage of a new provision provided by the legislature and approved $3 million in projects Monday for six career technical centers that each serve more than one county.
The Calhoun-Gilmer Technical Center was issued a grant for $246,400 for improvements.
This project proposes to renovate the Science Annex building to house two new classrooms for the Computer Repair and Legal Education programs. Renovations include the construction of a permanent divider wall, as well as new ceilings, lighting, flooring, and painting throughout the building.
The roof on this building was replaced in a 2019 SBA-funded Three-Percent Project. The facility is in good shape and has been well-maintained.
