MINNORA CENTER MAY AIR PROBLEMS TONIGHT - Dissenting Views Traded By Bob Weaver

A split in the Board of Directors at the Minnora Center may come to a head at tonight's meeting starting at 6 p.m. Board President Wanda Richards, who is at the center of some of the controversy, says the public is invited to attend.

David Corson, a community member who is seeking to unseat Richards, says he is continuing with a civil suit against the center for breach of contract. Corson attempted to start a nutrition program over two years ago, but was stopped by the Minnora Center board.

Larry Cottrell, a member of the official board, stated in a public meeting last week many of the actions taken by Richards were inappropriate and in violation of the center's by-laws. Cottrell claims "one or two people" are running the center and they have often bent the rules.

Numerous charges have been traded by the dissenting groups, although the Minnora Center has moved ahead with projects and services that benefit the residents of southern Calhoun. One of Richard's supporters said at last week's meeting "That must speak well for Wanda." (SEE earlier Hur Herald story about last weeks meeting)
