HUNTINGTON MURDER - Huntington police said a man who was shot Monday afternoon has died, and a man has been arrested and charged with murder.

Wendell L. Keith II, 47, of Huntington has died after being shot in the 800 block of 12th Street, according to a news release from the Huntington Police Department. Police said Delron Thacker, 19, of Huntington was arrested and charged with murder.

Police responded to the shooting about 1:20 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot and several other people who were potential witnesses or possibly involved in the incident.

Investigators said the incident arose from a verbal disagreement between the suspect and the man who was shot. Police said the two knew each other.

Thacker is currently being held in the Western Regional Jail. No bond has been set.

FAYETTE SLASHER - Fayette County deputies said a man faces multiple charges after he allegedly threatened several people during a domestic incident and slashed a man with a knife.

Ricky Lee Bennett, 57, of Meadow Bridge faces charges after incidents that occurred May 9, according to a Facebook post Tuesday from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Fayette 911 dispatchers reported they could her a male and female arguing on an open 911 call, a scuffle and then the man threatening to burn the residence down.

When deputies arrived at the scene on Sewell Creek Road in Meadow Bridge, they found a man standing in the yard who said he had been stabbed. He reported he didn’t need EMS but just had a small cut on his arm. The man reported that he had been stabbed by the suspect, who had been involved with a domestic situation with his mother.

Deputies interviewed the mother, who reported that Bennett had been trashing the house, had threatened her and said he was going to burn the house down and slit her throat. She said she got out of the house and hid behind some bushes in the yard until she could flag someone down and be taken to her son’s house.

The officers were not able to find the suspect, but the news release said they were able to take Bennett into custody after several weeks of attempted contacts.

Bennett is charged with malicious wounding, brandishing a deadly weapon, domestic battery and domestic assault. He was booked Sunday at the Southern Regional Jail, where he is being held on a $7,500 bond.

WILD MAN - A Westover man has been charged after allegedly waving a gun around after he was “ripped off” while trying to buy crack cocaine, according to the criminal complaint.

On Saturday, police responded to a brandishing complaint at the Little General convenience store at the intersection of Van Voorhis Road and Chestnut Ridge Road in Morgantown. The 911 dispatch center told police that a male was on scene waving a black firearm in the parking lot near the gas pumps.

Witnesses told police that the suspect, Corey Robert Marable, fled in an SUV, according to the criminal complaint. After further investigation, police recovered a handgun that Marable allegedly threw in the parking lot.

Marable returned to the scene “highly agitated” and stated that he, “had come to the gas station to buy crack cocaine and was ‘ripped off’,” according to the criminal complaint. Witness statements alleged that Marable, 43, hit another vehicle behind him and instantly pulled out a firearm and started waving it at people, including two children.

Marable has been charged with wanton endangerment involving a firearm and prohibited from possessing a firearm.
