The Calhoun Commission is looking at moving ahead with a new public water extension.
The Commission met last week with Luke Peters and others from the Mid-Ohio Valley
Regional Council regarding funding for water projects.
Currently, it appears a proposal by the Mt. Zion PSD to extend water service from the
Millstone area to Sand Ridge, Sassafras Ridge and Russett, might meet the funding
requirements.
The Back Fork project, which is expected to be bid soon, has been about ten years in the
making, suffering through the ups and downs of financing and development.
Dale Cunningham, President of the Pleasant Hill PSD, has requested extending the Back
Fork water line up Sugar Camp, which would pick up a few extra residences. Cunningham
felt the extension could be built while the main project was underway.
Luke Peters said using the present funding stream money to do the add-on would be the
best bet, rather than making new applications, which becomes time-consuming. About a
dozen outlets would be affected. The Commission advised the MOVRC to try and use the
current project funds to make the extension.
Residents of Norman Ridge have wanted a water line extension, but there are indications
they do not have enough customers to proceed with a feasible application.
Water development issues will be on the Commission agenda for April 7 at 5 p.m. |
