The state Department of Health and Human Resources reported 411 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday and three new deaths.
Calhoun today with a weekly total of of 30 cases. Last weeks total was 33. Record highs for the county.
A number of Calhoun citizens and former citizens are in intensive care, some in their 40s, including adults and athletes attending the girl's state basketball play-off.
The CDC announced that people who are fully vaccinated will no longer have to wear a mask, with exceptions. Those who are not need to wear a mask.
A problem with public places, they will not know those who are fully vaccinated, while mandating masks.
âCOVID-19 has hurt far too many West Virginia families,â state DHHR Secretary Bill Crouch. âBuilding community immunity is our not-so-secret weapon to ending the pandemic. I urge all who are eligible to schedule a COVID-19 vaccine.â
Active cases were listed at 6,716 Thursday. Hospitalizations have risen slightly at 272 patients with 85 of them in intensive care.
Forty-six percent of the stateâs overall population has now received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
