WEDNESDAY WV COVID-19 REPORT - 340 NEW CASES, 14 DEATHS - Record Highs For Calhoun, 21 New Cases This Week, 33 Cases Last Week

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported 14 new COVID-19 deaths and 340 new positive cases in the state Wednesday.

Twelve COVID-19 cases were reported for Calhoun today with a weekly total of of 21 cases. Last weeks total was 33. Record highs for the county.

A number of Calhoun citizens and former citizens are in intensive care, some in their 40s.

A significant number of Calhoun citizens seem to be pretending the virus is over, with little mask wearing within businesses, unless the business enforces.

There are currently 6,716 active cases in the state. The daily positive test rate decreased from 5.46% to 4.03%, while the overall positive test rate went from 5.14% to 5.13%.

As of Tuesday’s data, there were 264 people hospitalized with the virus, including 90 in intensive care and 34 people on ventilators.

There are 634,763 West Virginians who are fully vaccinated and 147,751 residents have recovered from the virus since the pandemic started.
